Housing
To ensure available housing options and density meet current and future needs and demands while maintaining the unique character of Oak Bay.
Oak Bay has the highest per capita property tax rate, the lowest work load and the least efficient process for permit approvals. This can and must be improved upon.
Infrastucture Renewal
Aging and obsolete infrastructure is not unique to Oak Bay and needs to be actively addressed.
Consultation with First Nations
We need to establish and nurture appropriate and sound relationships with the Songhees and Esquimalt Nations to enable us to have meaningful consultation over projects such as Oak Bay Marina. Local governments have a moral duty to consult First Nations as part of the journey towards meaningful truth and reconciliation.
My Commitment
If I am elected to Oak Bay Council I will undertake to:
- support sound, strategic governance in Oak Bay
- be accessible to YOU
- answer to you for my decisions and explain my reasoning
- come to the process with an open mind and a fresh set of eyes
- consider all points of view before engaging in evidence based decision making
Although we find ourselves running against each other, I am honoured to be in this race with 8 other candidates, each of whom clearly have the very best interests of our community top of mind and I have every confidence that, whatever the outcome of the Election on October 17th, Oak Bay will be in good hands!
